Summer Recipe: Pineapple Raspberry Smoothie

There is seriously nothing better than an ice cold drink on a blazing hot summer day. My drink of choice: smoothies. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a smoothie. The combinations are unlimited and the choices are so vast. Another plus, they're pretty healthy! Make it green and cram in 2-4 portions of veggies for the day, or jam pack it with vitamins and antioxidants with fresh and frozen fruits! One of my favorite kinds is Pineapple Raspberry, it might even be my absolute favorite. Keep reading to learn what's inside!

INGREDIENTS: one serving

- One banana, frozen or fresh. (I prefer frozen, it gives a really nice thickness)
- A handful of frozen raspberries.
- A handful of frozen pineapple chunks.
- 6 ounces (170 grams/177 mL) to a cup (226 grams/236 mL) of plain Greek or regular yogurt. ( I use Oikos plain, no sugar greek yogurt. TONS of protein.)
- 6 ounces(170 grams/177 mL) of any type of liquid. I used peach juice but you can use any kind, or even just water.
-One tablespoon of chia seeds. (You don't need these, but I like them a lot and they help with digestion! Just be careful, as some were recalled in the US and Canada due to salmonella.)
-One thin slice of lemon. (Adds such a nice kick, and makes the smoothie so thirst quenching!)
*If you don't have any frozen fruit, use fresh and just add ice! I like to buy my frozen fruit already frozen, but sometimes I freeze my own fresh ingredients!

CALORIES BESIDE THE FRUIT: Approximately 220 cals for 16 ounces (543 grams/ 473 mL). Not bad!

MYTH: You don't have to have an expensive blender to blend smoothies nicely with hard, frozen fruit and ice. The blender I use was literally $15 dollars at Walmart, and I've had it since last summer. It's a little trooper and works just fine! I love it, it makes just enough for one serving and you can use the top as a cup. I've linked the same exact one, on Amazon, if you're interested in trying it out!

So what do you think? Do you like smoothies? Let me know if you have any favorite smoothies or other summer drinks, or if you try mine! ♥

DISCLAIMER: A strawberry fell into the blender, therefore this is not completely a Pineapple Raspberry smoothie..rather a Pineapple Raspberry and a strawberry smoothie..haha.

  5. I so need to try this! I'm definitely a coffee person but living in Spain coffee is definitely not the best idea for summer (hot drinks, no thanks!) so I think this might be perfect :) I'll have to try!

    1. Oh gosh, I couldn't imagine a hot coffee in the sun, too painful! But how awesome it must be to live in Spain, it must be worth the lack of hot coffee!
